El gobierno australiano ha anunciado su resistencia a la amenaza de que la UNESCO clasifique la Gran Barrera de Coral como un sitio de patrimonio natural en peligro de extinción. El Comité del Patrimonio Mundial expresó recientemente su «profunda preocupación» por el estado del famoso arrecife.
